Marshalltown, Iowa Observes National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week

Marshalltown, Iowa is recognizing October 24th-30th as National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week and encouraging all residents of Marshalltown to join in the fight against lead poisoning. Mayor Gene Beach recently issued a proclamation recognizing lead poisoning prevention week and calling to the public's attention the serious problem of lead poisoning in Iowa and in Marshalltown. Marshalltown has a lead poisoning rate ten times the national average. According to the Iowa Department of Health, Iowa's rate of lead poisoning is four times the national average-1 in 14 Iowa children suffer from lead poisoning.
