19-Year-Old Man Killed in Iowa City Crash

On September, 17, 2011, a young North Liberty died in an Iowa City crash around 4 a.m. early Saturday morning. Iowa City police indicated that the young driver crashed into a parked car and sustained critical injuries.

Tyler Joe Fetters, 19, was behind the wheel, and police indicated that he was speeding when he hit the parked car on I Street. According to the press release that was issued, the accident occurred at the 2000 block of I Street.

The Iowa City Fire Department, Johnson County Ambulance, and Iowa City Police arrived on the scene of the accident. Fetters was traveling with a passenger, who had to be extricated from the vehicle and taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals Emergency Treatment Center for non-life threatening injuries.

Fetters also had to be extricated and was transported to the same hospital. Unfortunately, Fetters died of the injuries that he sustained in the crash.

Iowa City police are still investigating this accident that killed this young man and are trying to reconstruct what exactly happened.
