2 Children Suffer Head Injuries in Cedar Rapids Car Crash

Posted on Jan 23, 2012

On December 8, 2011, a serious Cedar Rapids car accident took place around 8 p.m. on Thursday night. Cedar Rapids police indicated that the wreck occurred at 429 Stoney Creek Road NW.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found that a sport-utility vehicle had crashed into a tree after hitting a parked car and a basketball hoop. The investigation into the crash revealed that 37-year-old Jack Hanson, of Cedar Rapids, was traveling northbound in the residential neighborhood when he lost control of his car.
Hanson was on his way home from a school program when the crash took place. Unfortunately, Hanson was traveling with his two children, who were injured in the collision. Officers indicated that the 8-year-old girl and 7-year-old boy sustained very serious head injuries and internal injuries in this Cedar Rapids crash. Police did indicate that the children were taken to St. Luke’s Hospital for medical care and were later transferred to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
No information has been provided on their updated medical conditions, except that they are expected to survive.
Police did confirm that the children were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.
The father also suffered injuries and was treated at St. Luke’s Hospital. No charges have been filed as of yet, as police are still investigating what caused the crash.
The Law Offices of Brady & O’Shea would like to wish the children and father injured in this wreck a complete and fast recovery.
