72-Year-Old Woman Hospitalized After Linn County Crash

Posted on Dec 21, 2011

On the morning of November 29, 2011, a two-car accident in Linn County occurred involving a 72-year-old woman. According to officials, the elderly woman was hospitalized after being extricated from her vehicle.
This Eastern Iowa car crash happened on Highway 13 southbound at Mount Vernon Road around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.
According to the Linn County Sheriff’s deputies, Joanne Lovell, 72, of Cedar Rapids, was pulling onto Highway 13 from Vernon Valley Drive and collided with a van. Jessica Heiar, 35, of Marion, was the driver of the van involved in this wreck.
It appeared that one of the cars ran into a road sign during the crash, causing it to split into many pieces scattered on the roadway.
When deputies and firefighters arrived on the scene, Heiar refused medical treatment, and Lovell was transported to Mercy Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries.
Police said that both cars sustained massive front-end damage and that Lovell was cited in this crash for failure to yield to oncoming traffic. She was also cited for failure to provide insurance coverage.
The crash caused traffic delays for southbound drivers for over an hour.
The Law Offices of Brady & O’Shea would like to extend our best wishes for a full and complete recovery to both parties who were injured in this auto accident.
