Bus Strikes College Student in an Iowa City Pedestrian Accident

Posted on Oct 15, 2011

An Iowa City bus and pedestrian crash occurred on the University of Iowa campus Thursday, September 22, 2011. Authorities indicated that a 20-year-old female was walking near the corner of Washington and Madison Street when the accident occurred.

The Cambus hit the pedestrian, who is also a University of Iowa student, when she started across the crosswalk. Officials said that at the time of the accident, the Cambus was traveling southbound on Madison Street with passengers on board.

The female college student ended up beneath the bus and suffered critical injuries; however, she was conscious when first responders arrived. She was taken by ambulance to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Her name has not been released nor any updates on her medical condition at this time.

The bus's windshield cracked during this Iowa City pedestrian accident.

Iowa City Police are investigating this accident to determine if the bus driver was able to see the pedestrian and if there was any negligent behavior involved. At this time, no charges have been filed, as police are still investigating.

The Law Offices of Brady & O'Shea would like to wish the female pedestrian injured in this accident a full and fast recovery.
