On June 10, 2011, a Cedar Rapids motorcycle accident occurred, sending two people to the hospital with injuries. The Friday evening collision occurred on Williams Boulevard near Highway 30, when a car and motorcycle collided.
Iowa police indicated that 49-year-old John Conner, of Cedar Rapids, was traveling north on Williams Blvd. when the motorcycle collided with a black Dodge Caliber. The Caliber, driven by 24-year-old Allison Belz, of Marion, was pulling out from the westbound Highway 30 exit ramp and struck the motorcycle.
Conner and his passenger were knocked off their motorcycle and hit the ground – neither was wearing a helmet. Witnesses said the man and woman appeared to be motionless before emergency officials arrived on scene. Conner was taken to Mercy Hospital and was reported to have non-life threatening injuries.
Janet Ritchart, his 51-year-old passenger, of Center Point, suffered serious injuries in the crash, and was last reported to have life threatening injuries. She was transported to Mercy Hospital as well, but was later transferred to University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.
Belz did not sustain any injuries in this Cedar Rapids crash. Belz was also traveling with a small boy who was not hurt in the accident, as he was riding in the back seat of the vehicle and was properly secured.
Belz did get cited for failure to yield while entering a thorough highway. Belz also did not have any proof of insurance, and received a citation for that violation as well.
The Law Offices of Brady & O’Shea would like to wish a full and speedy recovery to both the motorcycle driver and his passenger who were involved in this Cedar Rapids accident.
