Cedar Rapids Motorcycle Crash Sends Motorcyclist to the Hospital

Posted on Jun 09, 2011

On the morning of Tuesday, May 24, 2011, a Cedar Rapids motorcycle accident occurred around 7:40 a.m. Iowa police officers confirmed that the crash took place on the corner of Mount Vernon Road and Ninth Avenue SE.

According to officials, a pickup was traveling southbound crossing Mount Vernon Road when a motorcycle traveling eastbound crashed into the truck.

Chris Formanek, the 32-year-old driver of the pickup truck, of Cedar Rapids, told Cedar Rapids police Sgt. J.D. Verschoore, "I didn't even see him." He explained that he was in route to work when the motorcycle driver came flying around the curve, plowing into his passenger's side door.

The motorcycle driver, whose name has not been released at this time, fell off his bike and onto the ground on impact. Police did indicate that he was wearing his helmet and did not appear to be seriously injured, as he was conscious at the accident scene. He was taken by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center for medical treatment.

Witnesses came forward and informed police that the motorcycle appeared to be traveling at a normal rate of speed prior to the collision.

Cedar Rapids police indicated that charges were pending against the pickup truck driver in this Cedar Rapids crash.

Law Offices of Brady & O'Shea would like to wish the motorcycle rider a full recovery following this accident.
