On April 13, 2011, a strange accident in eastern Iowa occurred in which a pickup truck crashed through the front of a house Wednesday morning. Iowa law enforcement indicated that alcohol was involved in this Cedar Rapids car accident.
Around 9:40 p.m., Justin J. Brower, 28, of Cedar Rapids, was seen speeding around 90 mph down Ellis Boulevard NW. Not long after that, his pickup truck rolled through the yard and front porch of a house located at 1701 Ellis Blvd. NW.
Dawn Langham, the 67-year-old owner of the house Brower drove into, was not injured in the crash. She had gone upstairs about 15 minutes before the pickup truck struck her home. However, she was startled out of bed with the load noise and bright lights.
Apparently, the pickup truck went through a concrete pillar and destroyed the porch and flower box; however, it did miss the side of the house.
Brower ran from the scene and was found by officials about an hour later in Ellis Park, covered in mud and not wearing any shoes. They arrested him for speeding, suspicion of operating while intoxicated, reckless driving, and failure to maintain control.
Brower was also to blame for a minor accident earlier in the night, when he sideswiped an SUV.
No one was injured in either of these eastern Iowa crashes.
