On February 28, 2011, a multiple car crash in Cedar Rapids occurred on Blairs Ferry Road NE. This Monday morning car accident occurred around 10 a.m., and injured two people.
Police said that the three-car accident was caused when a car went out of control because the driver may have suffered from a medical condition. The female driver, whose name has not been released, clipped a sport-utility vehicle. The driver of the SUV, 55-year-old Fred Barnett, of Monroe, La., witnessed the female driver shaking and stopped his car to get out and check on her. Before he could exit his SUV, the female driver jumped the median and continued traveling west on Blairs Ferry Road NE.
The female driver of the red car then broadsided a white car at the intersection of Blairs Forest Way NE. She struck this vehicle near the Road Ranger gas station, right after she collided with the SUV.
When rescuers arrived on scene, they had to take off the doors of the white vehicle to free the driver. Firefighters worked for a while to remove the doors to the vehicle that was broadsided. The driver of this car was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for medical treatment. She was reported to be conscious; however there was no word on the seriousness of the injuries she sustained.
The driver who is believed to have a medical condition was also transported by ambulance to an area hospital for medical care. No further information was released about the condition of this driver.
The attorneys at Brady & O'Shea would like to wish both female drivers a full and speedy recovery from the injuries they sustained in this Cedar Rapids car accident.
